In Italy.....
Couples must obtain originals of your long birth certificates, original no impediment certificates for each of you, issued by your local registry office or the relevant embassy. Photocopies of your current passport, photocopies of passports for two witnesses and details of their marital status, occupation and place of residence.
If either party has been previously married, you will also need original previous marriage certificate and your original decree absolute or previous spouses death certificate.
In Italy, there is a 10 month waiting period before a divorcee or widow may marry. The original ‘no impediment certificate’ must be issued within three months of the intended date of marriage. It can take up to 21 days to be issued and costs £40 per person (approx).
All wedding ceremonies are conducted in Italian, however a translator will be provided. The wedding certificate issued will be multilingual.
