Aequa Trekking is a group of professionals who work as part of the AIGAE* and take tourists on nature excursions on the Amalfi Coast, the Sorrentine Peninsula and Monti Lattari (including Monte Faito). They are experts in the mountains and the local area and their aim is to enable others to enjoy the local territory through excursions along the historic footpaths with stunning sea panoramas and hidden woods and streams in the mountains, whilst protecting it and appreciating the local traditions and produce. Aequa Trekking have been exploring the footpaths for years – they know every path of the Vico Equense area like the back of their hands; this is where the name AEQUA originated – from the name Vico Equense.
*AIGAE is the professional association of Interpretive Nature Guides for those guiding individuals and groups in the natural world within Italy and around the world. It was founded in 1992 to develop and enhance the training, skills and professional status of the increasing number of Interpretive Nature Guides working in a sphere requiring the highest standards of skill and professionalism in all its aspects.
Aequa Trekking offer daily excursions, both during the week and at weekends, from the blue sea of the Amalfi Coast to the Regional Park of Monti Lattari in the mountains. Alternatively, you can choose an excursion along the historic footpaths of the Sorrentine Peninsula to the breath-taking views of the island of Capri.
Guided Tours:
During the excursions, the experienced, guides will tell you the stories of the local myths and legends. If you wish, there is also the option of camping. The excursions can be personalised to suit your preferences. These excursions are perfect for those who love walking and love nature and wish to see more of the beauty of the local area.

Il Sentiero Degli Dei – this excursion takes you on a route following one of the most important paths in Italy – the path of the Gods. For this tour, you will follow a route along Amalfi Coast surrounded by blue sea and breath-taking views. You will also pass several freshwater springs and be able to admire the ‘Faraglioni’ of Capri island, the Galli islands, the Monti Lattari and Praiano and Positano.

Valle delle Ferriere - this excursion takes you on a walk through nature and through the history of the Amalfi Coast. It starts at the historic village of Minuta (borough of Scala) where you will walk down the narrow streets which characterise the coastline until you reach the village of Pontone. Next, you will go through the Valley of Ferriere with woodland, natural springs and little waterfalls. You will also visit a nature reserve and see the lemon groves which are typical of the Amalfi Coast.
Il Molare – This excursion will take you to the top of the highest of the Lattari mountains called ‘il Molare’ which is 1444 metres above sea level. From here, you will have a breath taking 360-degree panoramic view of the whole region – from the Sorrentino Penniunsula to Mount Vesuvius and the Golf of Naples.
Monte Faito – this itinerary takes you on a walk through the century-old beech tree woods of Monte Faito where the reginal park of the Lattari mountains is located. You will also see chestnut trees, orchids and cyclamens (depending on the season) and typical vegetation of the Mediterranean. There are also some fantastic panoramas of the entire Gulf of Naples including the Sorrentine Peninsula, the island of Capri, Vesuvius and the city of Naples.
Monte Comune – this is one of the most beautiful walks in the Sorrentine Peninsula. It follows the path from Santa Maria del Castello which connects Monte Comune along the coast to above Positano where you can also enjoy views of Praiano. Once you have arrived at Monte Comune, which is 880 metres above sea level, you will be able to enjoy a fantastic view of the Sorrentine peninsula and the two gulfs – the Gulf of Naples and the Gulf of Salerno. You will also pass by the cow fields whose milk is used to produce the famous ‘provolone del monaco’.
Punta Campanella – This excursion takes you to the Punta Campanella which divides the Gulf of Naples and the Sorrentine Coast with the Gulf of Salerno and the Amalfi Coast. Here, you will feel like you can almost reach out and touch the island of Capri. You will also see the wonderful Bay of Jeranto and the Galli islands and learn about the legends and history associated with them.
Sentiero dei limoni – this excursion will take you to the heart of the Amalfi Coast visiting the historic towns of Minori and Maiori. You will see the lemon groves and learn about the traditions associated with growing and exporting the fruit – historically in baskets from the trees to Minori and Maiori’s beaches and then by boat to all the major ports all around the world.
Giuseppe Buonocore – local excursion and tour guide – ‘a job born out of a passion’
Giuseppe was born in Vico Equense, Naples, in 1984. Since he was young, he has been very passionate about the mountains and nature and, throughout the years, he has explored, appreciated and come to love the local area in which he lives. This passion and lifestyle led him to become a professional excursion and tour guide in 2018 when he became a recognised guide for the ‘Ambientale Escursionistica’ (AIGAE).
Over the years, Giuseppe has deepened his knowledge of the local area and is now an expert of the whole area including ‘I Monti Lattari, the Sorrentine Peninsula and the Amalfi Coast.
Together with Giuseppe, tourists can experience the wonderful sensations and emotions of all the marvels which this local area has to offer; myths, legends, traditions, smells and tastes – including food and drink.
